In earlier days, closed loop control is widely used for conventional DC-DC converters (boost, buck-boost and etc.) to analyze their voltage stability at load side. Among these converters boost converter arises high input current ripple, buck converter produces high output voltage ripples and buck-boost converter produces harmonics at load side even if they are controlled through the closed loop Proportional Integral controllers but currently SEPIC converter is utilized as one type of buck-boost converter in industrial power electronic appliances. So, SEPIC converter with closed loop control increases the output voltage stability, efficiency and continuous output current without producing any ripples and harmonics at load side. But SEPIC converter can’t produce efficiency and higher voltage gain even if it is operated in closed loop control system. Coming across with the Modified SEPIC Converters, it can produce continuous current and higher voltage gain for the DC micro grid system. In this article closed loop control of Modified SEPIC Converter for DC micro grid is analyzed and obtained simulation results of continuous output current, output voltage stability in improved manner with reducing the peak over shoot of output voltage wave form comparing with the open loop control of Modified SEPIC Converter by the application of PSIM software.
