This work deals with the estimation of enthalpy of association of asphaltenes in benzene. A highly sensitive nanowatt titration microcalorimeter developed at the Institute of Petroleum Chemistry, SB RAS was used. Asphaltene components of oil from the Krapivinskoye oilfield of the Tomsk region served as samples under study. The measured enthalpies of association for the initial and high-molecular components were 9.4 ± 0.2 and 6.4 ± 0.2 kJ/mol, respectively. These results suggest the formation of trimers in solutions and they are proportional to the oxygen content in asphaltenes.
