In automotive exhaust system, the deformation & temperature distribution are the most important parameters for optimization of any component. In order to improve the design efficiency of exhaust flange, the optimum level of material with good factor of safety is essential. Exhaust flange is most important component which connects the engine exhaust manifold and silencer [smoke exhaust]. The present paper discusses that the material optimization of exhaust flange with good factor of safety. The material of exhaust flange in this work is optimized by assuming four cases in which existing flange without step and fillet, existing flange of different sizes (12mm,11mmand 10mm) of bottom plates with fillet and without step were taken. In this work, solid modeling of exhaust flange is created by CATIA - V5R21 and modal analysis is carried out by ANSYS -18.0 for static and thermal analysis
