Results of functional-spatial development and the basin approach to the area of Slavske United Territorial Community (Lviv region, Ukraine) are presented. Recreational development of the Carpathians should be based on the even distribution of anthropogenic load throughout the territory, with reference to individual settlements, taking into account their unique attractiveness – ‘highlights’. The arrangement of mountain settlements should preserve local ethnographic and architectural features.
