Machine maintenance can be divided into two categories, namely preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance. Preventive maintenance is taken to prevent unforeseen damage from occurring. The lathe consists of various machine components so that if these components are damaged it will interfere with practical activities. Recording the time of using the machine is an action that can be taken as a basis for consideration in carrying out damage prevention maintenance. The development of a lathe working time data logger consists of (1) Arduino pro mini modules that function as controllers; (2) RTC module that serves to inform the time and date; and (3) SD card module which functions to record data to a memory card. Trial of the lathe data logger was carried out for 5 days at the mechanical engineering workshop, Department of Mechanical Engineering, State University of Malang. From the results of the comparison of manual recording with the results of data loggers, there is no big difference. Based on the results of these comparisons, it can be concluded that the data logger is suitable for recording the working time of the lathe as a basis for determining the schedule of preventive maintenance activities.
