There are significant changes in science learning standards described in A Framework for K-12 Science Education: Practices, Crosscutting Concepts, and Core Ideas and Next Generation Science Standards: For States, By States in the form of a three-dimensional learning framework as the latest science learning standard. This requires a learning task as an assessment tool following the framework. The purpose of this study was to investigate the need for developing light waves topics learning tasks based on a three-dimensional learning framework. This study involved 151 respondents consisting of 24 physics teachers with various experiences and 127 senior high school students in Purwakarta for the survey. The instrument used was the 3DLQP questionnaire, including the characteristics of the respondent, their initial insight into the three-dimensional learning framework, learning tasks at school, as well as criticism and suggestions. Data obtained from questionnaires, interviews, national curriculum documents, and NGSS supplement documents, were analyzed using data triangulation of the sources. The results of the study diagnose the perceptions of teachers and students to further describe the need for developing learning tasks and rubrics. This study also recommends several learning task criteria to stay in line with the competencies of the national curriculum.
