The mortality of suckling hypotrophic pigs in the conditions of an industrial pig complex was 11.73% of the total number of deaths and has age characteristics, manifested by an increase in the number of deaths by 2.73 times at the age of 2-3 days; by 4.38 times - of 4-7 days; by 3.22 times - of 8-14 days, by 2.20 times – at the age of 15-21 days. A decrease occurs only at the age of 22-28 days - by 3.58 times in relation to the age at birth. In hypotrophic piglets at birth, a violation of intrauterine development was noted, manifested by the lack of weight, low body length, disproportionate development, morphological underdevelopment and functional immaturity of the tubular bones (humerus and femur), liver, heart, lungs, kidneys and the whole body. The reason for the death of piglets is the shortfall in obtaining the required amount of colostrum, rich in globulins, which has a positive effect on natural resistance, since they have weak and short sucking movements and weak head movements when massaging the udder during sucking, as well as improper positioning of the limbs (decrease in neuromuscular tone), lowering heart rate and respiration, dysfunction of the gastrointestinal tract, manifested by a delay (up to 2-3 days) in the discharge of original feces, vomiting after sucking, as well as sharp fluctuations in body temperature, are preserved throughout the sucking period, characteristic of hypotrophic body proportions.
