The state of cows during the dry period determines not only the course of calving and the intensity of post-calving processes, but the further growth and development of an offspring. At the same time, it is important to provide cows with an adequate supply of the necessary plastic and energy substances. If we consider highly productive animals, it becomes possible only with the use of biologically active additives. The aim of our research was to study the aftereffect of the complex supplement “Tanamin Zn”, fed during the dry period on the nitrogen metabolism - total protein, albumin, globulins, creatinine, urea - in the blood on the 15th and 30th days after calving in cows and calves born. The data obtained in the experiment on 40 cows indicate that the use of tanamin Zn in cows during the dry period contributed to a significant increase in the concentration of total protein and globulins on the 15th and 30th days after calving accompanied by a decrease in creatinine and urea levels. In the blood of calves whose mothers received tanamin Zn at the final stage of gestation, an increase in the albumin content was shown at a lower level of urea, which had a positive effect on their live weight on the 30th day after birth.
