This article is devoted to the substantiation of the diameter of the threads, taking into account the influence of the parameters of the loop structure and the deformability of knitwear. Through the module of the loop-indicator characterizing the geometric and physical-mechanical properties of knitwear, the length of the thread in the loop is theoretically justified, a formula for the maximum relative deformation of the loop in width is obtained. To calculate the diameter of the thread, a formula is proposed based on the tensile strength condition depending on the initial parameters of the loop, loop modulus, elastic modulus and allowable stress. The results of the theoretical calculation with the experimental study are close as the nominal diameter of the threads used is in the allowable range, providing the strength of the knitted fabric during operation.
