The article deals with the influence of various modes of milling products from mammoth tusk on the quality of the processed surface, the duration of the product manufacture and the temperature in the contact zone of the cutter and the sample. It is shown that the processing step has the greatest influence on the quality of surface treatment. A step of 0.05 mm and less provides a surface that does not require additional grinding. An increase in the feed rate of the cutter with a constant machining step leads to an increase in temperature in the contact zone of the cutter and the sample. Experimental milling has shown that the milling mode with a cutter feed rate of 600 mm/min and a step of 0.05 mm is optimal for processing mammoth tusk with a cutter with a tip radius of 0.25 mm and a taper angle of 10°.
