The percentage of composites is currently increasing in various engineering constructions. It is primarily due to their specific properties. Materials of the present article are concerned with research of mechanical characteristics of composite samples supported by various fabric. Samples of composite under study were consisted of a binder (polyester resin) and a base (polypropylene with fabric material of two types: woven fabric and knitted fabric), a hardener, and a catalyst (cobalt). Tensile, bending, share and penetration tests were performed using special instruments. Following the conducted research mathematical relationships were obtained. They determine yarn number, aerial density, reinforcement ratio, and their interrelation, applying which the composite has the best mechanical properties. In the course of performing tensile, bending, share and penetration tests, it was found that a composite supported by knitted fabric had higher strength properties than a composite supported by woven fabric.
