Srimangunan Market is acknowledged as the main market in Sampang Regency, where the general public does their economic activities, added with pedestrians who walk to go to various destinations, without equipped with supporting comfort for pedestrians. This study aims to improve the quality of sidewalk performance in the area of Srimangunan market in Sampang. By evaluating the minimum standards in the Highway Capacity Manual (2000), pedestrians are observed based on the characteristics of pedestrians, the age of pedestrians in the Srimangunan market area dominated by the age of 19-40 years, 41.4%. Based on the purpose of this study, pedestrians’ activities are divided into: going to work, going to shopping, going to school, and leisurely walking, which are dominated by going to shopping and going to work. Based on the type of travel, it is dominated by walking. The characteristics of the pedestrian, the width of the existing sidewalk does not match the minimum width that has been determined, as street vendors fully occupied the sidewalk along with rickshaws, motorbikes, as well as parking cars sidewalk and even on the shoulder of the road. The level of service on the sidewalk falls into category D, which provides smooth flow and speed, but friction and interaction between pedestrians is prospective to occur.
