Crude oil was refined successfully in the atmospheric distillation unit with a capacity of 66 m3/hr, two variables were investigated on refining of crude oil: Heat up the crude oil (300, 305 and 310°C) and API of crude oil (28.5, 29.5 and 30.5) at a pressure of 0.6 bar for the refining unit. API gravity, specific gravity, viscosity, flash point and ASTM distillation were used to characterize the refining products for crude oil. The best results were obtained from crude oil refining at a production rate of light naphtha 9.5 m3/hr, heavy naphtha 3 m3/hr, kerosene 6.8 m3/hr, gas oil 10.4 m3/hr and residue crude oil refining (RCR) 34.4 m3/hr. This field study showed the difference in the behavior of the type of crude oil and the effect of the difference in temperature on the products of the refining process.
