Waste recycling is an important aspect of industry. The use of waste glass is well managed. Car windshield glass with a sandwich structure (glass-plastic-glass) is challenging to recycle. After mechanical separation, it is possible to use glass particles in the preparation of ceramic mixtures. This work investigates the effect of waste glass admixture in illite/smectite-based mixtures on thermal expansion, mass change, and reactions during thermal treatment. The results show that the mass loss of samples decreases with the amount of waste glass and also the amount of waste glass in the samples lowered the vitrification and sintering temperature.
