The use of project-based learning allows students to reduce their dependence on the teacher through their self-study and self-realization. The main advantage of using project-based learning is the updating of previously acquired knowledge and obtaining new ones. During the implementation of the project, students share responsibilities and roles among themselves and coordinate their actions towards achieving the final common goal. This study attempts to justify the use of project methods in the process of teaching foreign languages to students of the preparatory department of the Dnipro National University of Railway Transport named after Academician V. Lazaryan. Students show great interest when using the project methodology. In the course of project implementation, students acquire various skills that will be useful for them in their subsequent professional activities. This helps to motivate them to learn foreign languages. The difference between the project methodology and traditional teaching methods allows you to establish a partnership between the student and the teacher.
