Tree-based classification techniques were used to identify the crucial factors influencing the Malaysian family well-being. Data from the nationwide survey, conducted by the National Population and Family Development Board (NPFDB) of Malaysia in 2011 were used for the analysis. Two types of tree-based classification techniques, which are the decision tree and bagging decision tree, were considered for this study. The results from both techniques shown that the satisfaction on family relationships, which is one of the social factors, was the most important factor in determining family well-being. It is also shown that the bagging decision tree performed better compared to the single decision tree.
