Digital literacy is one of the 21st century skills required by individuals to compete in the globalization era. This study aimed to reveal 1) the effect of the RICOSRE learning model on students’ digital literacy and 2) the potential of the RICOSRE learning model to enhance students’ digital literacy. A mixed-method embedded design was employed in this study. The sample consisted of 53 Biology students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, who were enrolled in the Protist course at Universitas Negeri Malang. The data were obtained through documentation and survey using a Digital Literacy questionnaire examining the following indicators: Meaning Making, Analyzing, Persona, Using, and Decoding. The quantitative (primary) data from the questionnaire were analyzed using ANCOVA at 5% significance level, while the qualitative (secondary) data from the documents’ analysis were analyzed descriptively. The results of the analyses showed that 1) RICOSCRE learning model affected students’ digital literacy at a significance level of 0.011. 2) RICOSRE had the potential to enhance the participants’ digital literacy by 8.99% on Decoding, 7.6% on Meaning Making, 7.44% on Analyzing, 12.4% on Using, and 11% on Persona. It is expected that these potentials can be explored continuously to improve students’ digital literacy.
