Pentasil zeolites used to manufacture motor fuels during straight-run gasolines processing are usually synthesized as fine powders and then formed with a binder. The binder introduction into the catalyst reduces the zeolite phase content in the catalyst, which results in a decrease in its catalytic activity. This work deals with comparative studies of the physicochemical and catalytic properties during upgrading of the straight-run gasoline oil fraction of zeolite catalyst samples. The catalyst is a granular ZSM-5 zeolite in H form with a hierarchical porous structure and a high degree of crystallinity before and after treatment with a 0.3 N aqueous citric acid solution. It is shown that the dealumination of zeolite results in a significant decrease in its aromatic activity and an increase in the yield in high-octane gasoline as a target product.
