Core-shell calcium carbonate (CaCO3) particles of different sizes, and coated with biocompatible polymers via layer-by-layer method were loaded with a model radionuclide 68Ga using different strategies. The obtained radiolabeled particles were characterized and their biodistribution was tested after intravenous injection in rats. The obtained data demonstrate the size-dependent organ accumulation of particles as verified with positron emission tomography and computerized tomography.
