Till now very less literature is available for the compound K2MgF4, that too most of them are related to theoretical studies. We have attempted to synthesize this compound in our lab and studied its luminescence property by incorporating rare earth ion Eu2+ into its lattices. We have described synthesis process along with its XRD results confirming the formation of phase pure K2MgF4 compound in our sample. Further, may be first PL results on Eu2+ activated K2MgF4 have been reported.
