With no effective replacement, plastics have become integral part of today’s world. But plastics have numerous ill-effects on our environment. The best way to reduce harmful effects of plastics is by increase in its recycling. Existing methods are very inefficient, since only 8-9% of plastics are recycled. Segregation of waste is one of main reasons for reduced recycling. Therefore for much better recycling, building up of efficient mini-extruder was required. This mini-extruder which is portable and can be accommodated in any location will boost recycling by reducing segregation process. Design of this extruder is different from existing extrusion machine with different partsand their placements. Methodology followed for design is discussed. Calculations for different parts are carried out; capacity and efficiency of mini-extruder are found.
