This study was conducted in order to study the susceptibility of wood sawdust available in Iraq, local timber and imported, which are widely used in carpentry factories and result in large quantities of sawdust treated as wastes usually disposed of by (burning or initial use) in the possibility of removing the blue dyes stain contaminated with water which is one of the manifestations of water pollution in Iraq. Sawdut of (Platanus oreintalis, Cupressus sempervirens, Eucalyptus camaldulensis, Populus euphratica and Fagus sylvatica) woods are treated with (KOH,NaOH and Hot water) then immersion in the polution water with 100ppm blue dyes at diffrent immersion time. Treatment with (KOH and NaOH) 1M improve the sawdust adsorption, Prolonging the duration of immersion for limited periods gives a greater chance of absorption until reaching the saturation point, Fagus sylvatica, Cupressus sempervirens and Populus euphratica sawdusts Showed higher adsorptionility, other species gave good results, allowing them to be used to achieve the research objective.
