The paper presents research on a rotating stall that can occur in centrifugal compressors. It can lead to vibration and imbalance in the construction. The number of zones and the speed of their movement must be determined to analyze and control these rotating stalls. Therefore, the study shows a method for automatically determining the number of stall zones and the speed of their movement in a centrifugal compressor. The results of the compressor stage experiments and data processing according to the proposed stall parameter determination method are given. The proposed methodology allows automatically determining the parameters of symmetric and asymmetric rotating stall. The parameters of the rotational stall and the influence of non-stationary process on the operating characteristics can be taken into account for optimizing the geometry and improving the anti-surge protection systems.
