The study deals with the stepwise transient method of thermal conductivity and diffusivity measurement. The method consists in fitting the theoretical temperature function to the measured temperature response. The disadvantage of the method is the source effect, namely the influence of the heat source capacity on the measurement results. In this study, instead of simultaneous fitting more parameters, two temperature functions are designed and fitted with only one parameter each. This theory was verified using the real measurement on the silicate glass. The analysis proved that the source effect was eliminated, the specimen should be divided only into 3 parts and the coefficient of variation of the results is better than 1 %.
