The role of natural fibers as reinforcing material in polymer matrix composites have widely increased due to their specific properties like light weight, high specific strength, environmental friendly, high specific modulus and also have a good economic value. In this study, the tensile behaviour of jute-hemp fiber reinforced composites has been analysed and compared with other various hybrid polymer composites. The composite was manufactured using traditional hand layup method. Weight fraction of fiber and matrix was kept at 40%-60%. The test specimen was prepared according to the ASTM standards D 638. Testing was carried out using computerised universal testing machine for a load of 1kN at a rate of 3mm per min. The maximum tensile strength of 71MPa is obtained for composites reinforced with jute and hemp fibers compared to coir-wild date palm, PALF-metal powder, ragi flour –sugar cane fibers and jute - empty fruit bunch fibers.
