Mathematical modelling is used to investigate the electric field enhancement in various configurations of cuboid gold nanoparticles that are placed on a glass substrate and are irradiated with a plane wave. The influence of the substrate, the nanoparticle dimension, as well as the critical role of the distance between the gold nanoparticles is investigated. Moreover, the cuboid gold nanoparticle optical properties are determined.
