Current study investigates the effects of surface modifications on aerodynamic characteristics; coefficient of lift for Eppler 387 airfoil. The present study mainly emphasizes on improvement of aerodynamic efficiency in a two dimensional subsonic flow, over airfoils at 2 × 105 Reynolds number with surface modifications. Airfoils with surface modifications were modelled in CATIAV5R20 and analyzed using ANSYS workbench for various angles of attack ranging from -6 to 15°. CFD results for wide range of airfoils with surface modifications were compared and L50c50t30d airfoil was concluded to show better aerodynamic efficiency.
