Cotton production in agriculture industry plays very crucial role in building economy of any country. But factors like dependency on rainfall, fertilizer wastage, poor field management and lack of technology leads low productivity of cotton and therefore it is important to upgrade the existing methodology. This paper proposes one such concept where the fertilizers will be applied at various levels of soil during early stage of cotton seed sowing process. Multi depth fertilization will benefit in making fertilizer available at nursery, vegetative, mid-season and late season stages of plant growth period. Placing the fertilizer at multilayers of soil will help the crop to take up nutrients early and till full growth. For this purpose a Multilayered Fertilizer-cum-Cotton Seed Drill Applicator machine will be designed, developed and tested in the farm of Waddhamna, Nagpur region. The proposed machine will place the fertilizer into 3 different depths at an interval of 2 inches each. The Tyne and its assembly for deep tillage will be designed to determine 3 depths and strength to withstand the resulting forces from the soil. The design of Tyne will be evaluated for deformation and deflection at maximum theoretical loads using Finite Element Analysis. The machine will influence the parameters of soil like nitrate, phosphorus and potassium that are responsible in increase of crop yield through its nutrients uptake during all growth stages of cotton crop.
