High energy impact during rock fall poses a significant hazard to infrastructure and human activities. The coefficient of restitution (CoR) is the most important parameter in order to analyse energy dissipation during rock fall impact. The dynamic behaviour of rock during impact is investigated through impact experiment of the normal drop test. The aim of this paper is to determine the CoR value of limestone with respect to surface roughness. Based on this experiment, it was found that surface roughness plays a significant role in lowering the CoR value as compare to a smooth surface.
