In present work Pure and Gd doped BFO nanoparticles were prepared by using sol-gel technique and studied the influence of Gd doping on photocatalytic activity of BFO nanoparticles. X-ray diffraction studies reveal that, up on Gd doping BFO exhibited a gradual transition from R3C symmetry to Pnma symmetry. The Morphology of the GBFO nanoparticles of showed transition from irregular shape to cubical shape grains up on doping with Gd. We observe a decrease in optical bandgap with increasing Gd doping concentration. The photodegradation experiments under visible light on model pollutant Rhodamine B showed that the BFO nanoparticles with 7.5% Gd doping showed higher degradation rates.
