Solvent effect on aggregation properties of the monosubstituted pillar[5]arenes containing N-alkyl amide fragments with the different length of the substituent has been investigated. It was shown by transmission and scanning electron microscopy that the monoamide derivatives based on the pillar[5]arene form various types of associates depending on the solvent. The ability of the investigated pillar[5]arenes to form supramolecular polymers in chloroform and nanometer-sized spherical particles in DMSO has been established. Moreover, it was found that the addition of water to the solutions of pillar[5]arene in DMSO led to formation of supramolecular polymers, while the addition of alcohol did not affect the type of formed associates.
