The effect of Cd2+ ions on the structural and functional parameters of the halophyte Suaeda salsa was studied. The roots of plants accumulated Cd2+ ions in 38 times more than the leaves. The reactions of the pigments and membrane lipids were similar to the effects of Cd2+ and soil salinity. The mechanisms of resistance to NaCl and Cd2+ ions in halophytes are realized due to structural rearrangements of the membrane apparatus and activation of oxidative processes.
