The paper considers various approaches to reduce heavy metal (HM) pollution of agricultural and non-agricultural soils. The main measures to reduce HM activity in agricultural soils include liming, application of mineral and organic fertilizers, artificial and natural sorbents. On lands not used for agricultural purposes, the main types of HM reduction are soil washing and replacement of contaminated soil with imported soil.
