Under drought stress created conditions, growth and development of Amaranthus caudatus L. were investigated considering the rates of photosynthesis and transpiration. Biomass and physiological parameters differed in drought-stressed and control plants. Water use efficiency (WUE) coefficients were calculated for the studied groups of amaranth. In drought conditions WUE is significantly higher than in control. This may indicate the adaptive properties of amaranth to drought stress.
