Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is a type of wireless data communication that allows us to detect relevant quantities, monitor and collect data and make various user displays. This paper implements the environmental monitoring system especially for river water quality detection using WSN. ZigBee Receive Packet API frame is used to carry water quality information in term of pH and turbidity level. The implementation is designed with two scenario; multi sensing from node sensor and collecting many parameter from multi node. API frame of ZigBee Receive Packet (0×90) and IO Data Sample RX Indicator (0×92) are utilized to carry the data sensor. WSN design monitor the pH and turbidity of water with average of error of about 0.16% for pH reading, and 22.17% for turbidity reading. Wireless communication is tested in outdoor environment between node sensors, with maximum range coverage is about 60 meters without repeater, with percentage of success reach 98%. The coverage area can be extended by locating the repeater between sensor nodes.
