Highly soluble and violet light emitting 1,4-Bis(benzimidazole-1-yl)benzene (BBI) was investigated theoretically and experimentally. Thin films of BBI compound were prepared using spin coating technique onto glass, quartz and silicon substrate and characterized for their structural and photo-physical properties. UV-Visible absorption studies showed that BBI molecule exhibited absorption in UV region. BBI molecules showed violet emission in solution as well as solid state form.
