This paper highlights the problems associated with forecasted energy demand growth and how they could be met with new energy generation and technologies. Even though, the concepts of renewable energy conversion and storage are known, our ability to implement them on a global scale is limited due to several challenges with scalable manufacturing, efficiency and durability. The challenges with current technologies can be addressed through discovery and development of advanced materials and processes.
