Thin films of poly (3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) doped with poly(styrenesulfonate) were fabricated using spin-coating technique. The fabricated films showed a sheet resistance (Rs) of 6.8 and 2.2 kΩ under same processing conditions. Active infrared (IR) thermography images revealed that the fabricated film with Rs=2.2 kΩ were highly uniform with less or no defects when compared to film of Rs=6.8 kΩ. The electrothermal response suggested a rapid heating upto 109°C occurred within 30-40 sec at an applied voltage of 60 V owing to the uniformity of films. The fabricated films may find potential use in the field of electrothermal heaters and the surface defect analysis through active IR thermography might be helpful in batch processing defective electrothermal heaters for commercial purpose.
