In the present work we modeled the interaction of Maneb (manganous ethylenebis), a carbamate fungicide, with bovine serum albumin using results from fluorescence spectroscopic measurements. Carbamates are widely used in numerous applications as pesticides and are often involved in poisonings. They are part of a large group of synthetic pesticides derived from carbamic acid esters. They have been developed and used in a large scale along the past forty years in over fifty known commercial formulations. Our results have shown that Maneb does not present fluorescence, does not form complex with albumin structure and has low quenching capacity. Furthermore only a few amount of the fungicide, near 3%, is absorbed by the bovine organism, once bound to albumin. The binding constants are 5500(±400)/M, at 37 °C, and 3100(±200) × 103 /M, at 25 °C.
