Modern Romanian society is based on science and technology, and education in these areas should develop in each citizen thereof the necessary skills to thrive, skills that are defining elements indispensable in the modern world. In the context of a “new science education”, people are campaigning for joining rational thought with intuition promoting creativity, the ability to make connections between information and receptiveness to new concepts. Digital storytelling is a creative and effective method to explain complex social and natural phenomena or to share from personal experience. In this paper, we show how digital storytelling can be used in teaching sciences, as well as during initial science teacher training. We present a concrete example and indicate the favorable attitude of students towards an education “through and for science” that enables them to participate as literate citizens in a knowledge-based society.
