We present results of shell‐model calculations on exotic p‐shell and sd‐shell nuclei. We have determined the effective interaction from an empirical procedure using both energies and electromagnetic moments of T≤2 nuclei as input. Binding energies, spectra, dipole moments, and radii of ground states are compared with experimental data.
