An experiment designed to search for a strangeness −1 dibaryon is discussed. The experiment will use the 3He (K−, π+)nDs reaction and is expected to begin near the end of the year at the BNL AGS using the existing LESB‐I beamline and hypernuclear spectrometer system. Planned searches for a strangeness −2 dibaryon are also discussed. The strangeness −2 dibaryon searches will however require the construction of a new 1.8 GeV/c kaon beam line at the AGS.
