Being the first step done in order to find, by the use of CFD methods, the hydrodynamic derivatives of a maneuvering tanker, the present research offers an accurate image of the forces and moments developed on the appended ship model during static numerical PMM tests. The paper outlines a computational method considered for the virtual Planar Motion Mechanism tests implementation, highlighting the numerical uncertainty and the error of the method.
