We study possibilities for compensation of Joule losses in metamaterials by using spasers in both above and below pumping thresholds. For both above-and below threshold spasers, we obtain the conditions (curves of compensation) at which spasers' dipole moments oscillate with a phase shift of π relatively to the external wave. For these values of the amplitude and frequency, the loss in the metal spaser' nanoparticles is exactly compensated for by the gain.
