Dust particles are grown in the plasma by sputtering a polymer layer previously deposited on the electrodes. A dust‐free region called the void appears in the center of the plasma as the result of two opposite forces, an inward electrostatic force and an outward ion drag force. To study this region of enhanced luminosity, an optical non intrusive diagnostics is used. Laser induced fluorescence allows to measure several characteristics like the evolution of the excited neutral argon density and the temperature in the plasma.
