We estimated the energy payback time (EPBT) and greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) in the life cycle of the Amonix high‐concentration photovoltaic (HCPV) system with III–V solar cells. For a location in the southwest United States, the Amonix 7700 has an EPBT of only 0.86 yrs and GHG emissions of 24g CO2‐eq./kWh; we expect further decreases in both by 2011.
