We present the second installment of The Physics Teacher’s special collection on “Sex, Gender, and Physics Teaching”! In this September 2020 issue of TPT we feature six engaging new papers from the collection, following on the heels of 11 engrossing papers in the May 2020 issue, along with another arresting cover image of a classroom setting by Jen Geanakos. The topics vary widely, providing something for everyone, from teaching about women’s history in physics (see p. 377) to supporting students who are parents (p. 382), from an examination of the duality of conference experiences for people marginalized in physics (p. 408) to understanding the non-binary nature of sex and gender and why this is important to physics teaching (p. 395). Finally, there is a pair of fascinating research papers exploring aspects of how classroom experiences are related to gender (p. 399, p. 430). Items in the “Sex, Gender, and Physics Teaching” collection are identified by the gray and pink thumbnail image of a student leading a classroom discussion seen above. We hope that you enjoy this second wave of articles in the collection and find much to inform your teaching.

…And there is much more to come! We look forward to sharing the remainder of the collection with you throughout the rest of this year, even as we all rise to meet the challenge of teaching remotely. There is much to consider anew about our teaching in these times of remote instruction (see the guest editorial on p. 374 for recommendations based on student surveys), and we hope that you find much of relevance in the pages of TPT, even while you prepare and experience your courses with your students in this new modality.

Sincerely,

Gary White and Geraldine L. Cochran
