Drones are increasingly more available, and they collect very accurate positional data. Further, students are fascinated by drones, and some students will use drones in future STEM careers. Then, it is useful for students in an introductory college or high school physics course to conduct experiments and data collection with drones. Herein are six such experiments.

This is an entry-level quad drone and costs about $500; we recommend purchasing additional batteries and the charging hub. The drone is small (∼242 g), so it does not require registration or a license to fly.1 In addition to its small size, the flight characteristics, stability, and positional accuracy are well suited for classroom STEM activities.
