I have six years of experience teaching AP Environmental Science—from the unusual perspective of a physics teacher. To my delight and surprise, the class involved a lot of physics, and I was able to use my physics content knowledge to enhance the science of the class. In this article, I provide recommendations on how physics teachers might structure a successful AP Environmental Science course. Since this approach is original and unique, I believe it is of some benefit to share this with my physics colleagues in hopes that they will take on this course. Many physics teachers who may be seeking ways to introduce more environmental consciousness in their schools, or simply grow their departments, could certainly look to AP Environmental Science to help.
