Every year, we send a survey to people who graduated in physics and astronomy about a year ago. In the next few months, we’ll be looking at responses from people who earned a bachelor’s degree in astronomy. First, we’ll take a look at the impact of COVID-19 on 2020 graduates. The responses could provide insight into positive impacts teachers and faculty members would want to replicate.
Over half of the respondents felt the pandemic had a negative impact on almost everything we listed. Over three-fourths said it negatively impacted classroom learning and study groups. Almost one-fourth of the respondents indicated that the pandemic had a positive impact on exam taking.
We see that very few respondents indicated the pandemic negatively affected their ability to meet graduation requirements. While this may seem to be good news, it is important to remember that only students who graduated received the questionnaire. It is...
